The Briori are an alien race from the Delta Quadrant.

In 1937, the Briori kidnapped 300 Humans from Earth and took them back to an unnamed Class L planet in the Delta Quadrant and used them as slaves. Eight Humans, however, remained in cryostasis for 400 years.

Eventually the slaves revolted and the Humans drove the Briori off the planet, claiming their technology and making the planet their own. They established three settlements and developed a high-level civilization for nearly 15 generations, reaching a population of over 100,000. The eight Humans who remained in cryostasis became known to the rest of the Humans on the planet as "The 37's".

The Briori themselves were not seen, nor have been encountered by Starfleet; it is not known how they traveled the huge interstellar distance between the Delta Quadrant and Earth, nor is it clear why the Briori transported Humans over such a great distance rather than using a species indigenous to the region. The history of the Briori is remarkably similar to the Skagarans; however it is unknown whether the two species are related or connected in any way.
