Bumper Robinson played the Teenage Jem'Hadar in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "The Abandoned".

He has appeared in motion pictures such as Enemy Mine (1985, with Carolyn McCormick), The Painting (2001, with Ben Vereen) and voiced Chipmunks in Brother Bear (2003), a film to which Estelle Harris also lent her voice talent.

He had a recurring role on Futurama as the voice of Dwight Conrad.

In 1998, Robinson starred as harlem hacker The Candyman in the short-lived MTV/WB spy series Three alongside David Warner.
