Gender: Male
Species: Human
Affiliation: Federation Starfleet
Starfleet Security
Rank: Lieutenant
Status: Active (2369)
Played by: James Lashly

Lieutenant George Primmin was a member of Starfleet Security. He became a security officer in 2363 (DS9: "Move Along Home") and was assigned to Deep Space 9 in 2369.

He was assigned to DS9 to make sure a deuridium shipment from the Gamma Quadrant passed through the space station safely. He clashed with Constable Odo, who took Primmin's assignment there as an insult. Odo came to respect Primmin after the latter found a subspace crossover shunt, placed there by Rao Vantika, that would have disabled the station for hours, giving Vantika time to steal the deuridium shipment. (DS9: "The Passenger")

Later, Primmin was the only senior officer left after the Wadi transported Sisko, Dax, Bashir, and Kira into Chula, one of their games. (DS9: "Move Along Home")

[edit] Background

Primmin was played by James Lashly. Deep Space 9 would not have another Starfleet security officer until Michael Eddington was assigned there in 2371.

Primmin was presumably only on DS9 to oversee the deuridium shipment, and was still present for the Wadi incident only because he was waiting for transport to his next assignment. At any rate, he does not appear after "Move Along Home" and is never mentioned again, although he does appear in the DS9 novel The Big Game.

According to the script for "The Passenger", Lieutenant Primmin, was in his mid-thirties, has a friendly face, an easygoing smile and a passing resemblance to a teddy bear.
