Marta Batanidesedit
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference
Marta "Marty" Batanides was a 24th century Starfleet officer. In 2327 she graduated from Starfleet Academy with the rank of ensign. She was a classmate of Jean-Luc Picard and Cortin Zweller. With these two she visited Starbase Earhart shortly after graduation, where she and the others got into a bar fight with some Nausicaans, in which Batanides was knocked out.
Picard and Batanides both had a crush for each other and Picard later regretted that he had never pursued his interest in her. However, in an alternate past created by Q, they did start a relationship, but it only destroyed their friendship. (TNG: "Tapestry")
[edit] Appendices
[edit] Apocrypha
Batanides makes several appearances in non-canon works, such as in the shortlived Marvel Comics Star Trek: Starfleet Academy series, and again in the Pocket Books TNG series novel Rogue of the Star Trek: Section 31 mini-series. Both appearances portrayed her as having risen to the rank of admiral by the 2370s. She also appears in the Star Trek: The Lost Era novel Well of Souls as a commander in Starfleet Intelligence. She makes another appearance in the DS9 novel Hollow Men, set in 2374, in which she and William Ross discuss Benjamin Sisko's actions as seen in "In the Pale Moonlight".
