Alpha Eridani

The Alpha Eridani system, whose primary star is also identified as Achernar (spectral class B3V), is a star system located 144 light years from the Sol system, lying between Earth and Argelius II.
At least one planet in the system, Alpha Eridani II, is known to be populated. (TOS: "Wolf in the Fold")

- According to the non-canon Star Fleet Technical Manual there is a Constitution-class ship called the USS Achernar, NCC-1732.
- Another book, a novel called "Time for Yesterday" described Achernar going nova, and destroying the USS Constellation in the process. However, it was portrayed as an uninhabited system, possibly because someone was unaware that Achernar is the same as Alpha Eridani, which was referenced as having an inhabited third planet.
