Andrei Chekov was never mentioned in dialog or scripts. His name is solely derived from the traditional Russian patronymic "Andreievich," first mentioned in TOS: "The Way to Eden".

According the non-canon video game Starship Creator, Andrei Dimitrievich Chekov was married to Larisa Chekov. He was also mentioned as Chekov's father in the 2002 novel Future Imperfect.
