Andy Schmidt is the Senior Editor of comics at IDW Publishing. He looks after various franchises licensed by the company including G.I. Joe, Star Trek, and Terminator. He joined IDW from Marvel Comics, where he worked for almost six years. During that time, he edited various books including X-Men, X-Factor, Alias, Captain America, Iron Man / Captain America, and the Annihilation Saga. He also wrote for a few titles for the company.

In addition to all of his editing work, he is a lecturer and consultant on the comics industry with his teaching company, Comics Experience.

His first contribution to IDW's Star Trek line was the first issue of Star Trek: The Last Generation, "Do Not Close Your Eyes". With the start of 2009, he moved on to other lines at IDW, handing the reins back to Scott Dunbier.
