Auto-regenerative shielding were a line of defense used by ships controlled by the Hierarchy.
In 2378, Lieutenant Commander Tuvok, while piloting a class 2 shuttle with Lieutenant Tom Paris, noted that Zet and Nar's ship had auto-regenerative shielding. (VOY: "Renaissance Man")
