Avek was a commander in the Benthan Guard.

In 2374, he led two ships in an attempt to recover a coaxial warp ship, stolen by a lifeform which occupied the body of the Benthan Steth. However, he was driven off by Steth himself, who was trapped in the body of one of the lifeform's former victims, a female called Daelen. (VOY: "Vis à Vis")
