Bajoran Choosing Ceremony

The Bajoran Choosing Ceremony is the process, primarily a popular vote among the Vedeks of the Vedek Assembly, that the Bajoran Kai is chosen. In 2370, Vedek Bareil was considered the likely winner to succeed Kai Opaka until allegations that he was a collaborator came to light. He subsequently dropped out of the race, and Vedek Winn became the new Kai of Bajor. (DS9: "The Collaborator")
