Beta XII-A was a planet, believed to be the location of a Human agricultural colony, with a population of one hundred.
In 2268, the crew of the USS Enterprise answered a distress call from the colony only to discover that it had allegedly been destroyed by the Klingons.
The incident was later determined to be a false memory created by an entity to incite a feud between the crews of the Enterprise and Klingon battle cruiser. (TOS: "Day of the Dove")
