The booster modulator is a component of a Federation starship's deflector system.

The booster modulators of the USS Defiant were used, along with the induction stabilizers, to imprint a Federation warp signature on a Cardassian asteroid-moon during the First Battle of Chin'toka. (DS9: "Tears of the Prophets")
