Brazil was a former nation-state on the South American continent on Earth.

Brazil is known for its diverse wildlife found in the Amazon rainforest and river. (ENT: "Fight or Flight") The city of Rio de Janeiro is one of Brazil's popular destinations. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")

In 2151, Hoshi Sato taught as a university professor in Brazil, before she took a commission aboard the Earth starship Enterprise NX-01 as communications officer in order to have the chance to experience new languages from outer space. (ENT: "Broken Bow", "Shockwave", "Zero Hour", "Observer Effect") She returned to her position there following the decommissioning of the Enterprise in 2161. (ENT: "These Are the Voyages...") In the mirror universe, Hoshi Sato also taught in Brazil. (ENT: "In a Mirror, Darkly")

Starfleet dedicated the USS São Paulo "for the people of Brazil." (DS9: "The Dogs of War")

In 2375, Ezri Dax stated that Jadzia was fond of Rio (de Janeiro) as a place to live when Miles O'Brien thought of moving back to Earth. (DS9: "What You Leave Behind")
