A cavity was a dental term for an occlusion indicative of decay on a tooth usually caused by specific carbohydrates (saccharides) or bacteria.
Despite having her teeth sealed with a tri-fluorinate compound when she was young, Sub-Commander T'Pol was diagnosed with a cavity by Dr. Phlox who explained that it might have been due to too much Human food. (ENT: "Dear Doctor")
