A centrifugal governor is a device that regulates the spin speed of a gyro-swing.

In grammar school, B'Elanna Torres disengaged the centrifugal governor on a gyro-swing while Daniel Byrd was on it, in revenge for his teasing. (VOY: "Juggernaut")
