Cochrane deceleration maneuver

The Cochrane deceleration maneuver was a classic battle maneuver known by every Starfleet vessel captain during the 23rd century.
The maneuver was used by Captain James T. Kirk to defeat a Romulan starship near Tau Ceti in the mid-2260s. (TOS: "Whom Gods Destroy")
- Named for and therefore perhaps invented by Zefram Cochrane.
