The comm-pic was the colloquial designation given to the device used in establishing subspace communications between two parties during the late 23rd century.
Space Station Regula I was equipped with comm-pic device, which was utilized during its' communications with the USS Reliant and USS Enterprise in 2285. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)
