Criminology is a field in social sciences that involves the study of crime.
The library computer aboard the USS Enterprise contained a database on criminological files. These files were consulted in 2267 during the case against Montgomery Scott in reference to locating cases of unsolved mass murders of women since Jack the Ripper. (TOS: "Wolf in the Fold")
