Elim Garak, Odo, Kira, and Worf take the Defiant, unaware that Nog is aboard, against Captain Sisko's orders and go to join General Martok and the rest of the Klingon forces in battle with the Dominion forces, Martok's flagship is destroyed but he manage to beam aboard the Defiant just before, as they almost defeated the tide turn when the Romulans appear and help defeat the Dominion forces.
At the station the battle is not going well, the Jem'Hadar board the station and fight the station defenders, including the Omega Squad, the battle went until the Romulan ship appear and helps drive out the Dominion forces.
As the Defiant crew return to the station, Kira, Odo, and Worf offer their resignation, however Captain Sisko rejecting them and saying he will need every one of them if he going to put the station on its feet again.
