Don M. Mankiewicz wrote the story for the original series episode "Court Martial". He also co-wrote the teleplay with Steven W. Carabatsos.
He and fellow screenwriter Nelson Gidding earned an Academy Award nomination for their work on the screenplay to the 1958 film, I Want to Live! This film was directed by Robert Wise.
Mankiewicz also earned an Emmy Award nomination for in 1970 Outstanding Writing Achievement on the pilot episode of Marcus Welby, M.D. He would go on to write further episodes for the show, and also wrote episodes for other programs such as Ironside and Mannix.
