An EPS grid is a component of the electro-plasma distribution network on 22nd century Starfleet vessels. In the event of an emergency, the grid may be shut down to avoid an overload.
In 2151 Lieutenant Reed tried to bypass the EPS grid to receive power from the impulse drive to get the phase cannon online but Tucker denied this possibility. (ENT: "Silent Enemy")
