The Federation Astronomical Committee is the United Federation of Planets agency responsible for naming and locating new spatial phenomena.
Upon discovering a micro-wormhole in the Delta Quadrant, in 2371, Tom Paris suggested petitioning the Federation Astronomical Committee to officially designate it as the "Harry Kim wormhole". (VOY: "Eye of the Needle")
