Ferenginar was a class-M planet in the Alpha Quadrant, homeworld of the Ferengi and the capital of the Ferengi Alliance.

The planet's capital city was primarily a series of low domes broken by a tall spire, the Tower of Commerce, which marked the Sacred Marketplace, and was the seat of power of the Grand Nagus, the leader of the Ferengi Alliance.

The planet was best known for its nearly constant, planet-wide torrential rains, rotting vegetation, and rivers of muck.

After Grand Nagus Zek added an amendment to the Ferengi Bill of Opportunities allowing females to wear clothes and make profit, Ferenginar was plunged into financial chaos and a communications blackout was imposed. (DS9: "Profit and Lace")

Background Edit

According to Star Trek: Star Charts, on page 35, 78.2 billion Ferengi lived on Ferenginar, the planetary government was the Ferengi Commerce Authority, and, since antiquity, the Ferengi have had warp drive capability. On page 36, Ferenginar's sun was identified as a red dwarf star.
