First grade reader

The first grade reader was an educational tape found in the ship's library designed to teach young children to read at the first grade level.

In an attempt to reeducate Uhura, after she had her memory erased by the Nomad space probe, Christine Chapel helped her learn sound out words in the first grade reader. Uhura, however, had some difficulty with the text and began speaking what she read in Swahili rather than in English. (TOS: "The Changeling")
