Florian Strobl

Florian Strobl is a compositor at Digital Domain and was part of the company's visual effects team that was assigned to 2009's Star Trek.

Strobl began his professional career in show business as a camera operator and editor apprentice for TV Aktuell, a regional television broadcaster in Regensburg, Germany. In 2002, he began working at the German visual effects studio Frame FX, where he was a compositor on such films as Sumuru and Modigliani.

Soon thereafter, Strobl moved to the Dallas, Texas, and in 2004, he began working at Reel FX. Later that year, he became a digital compositor at DNA Productions, where he worked on CG-animated projects such as the 2006 film The Ant Bully (which featured the voice of Ricardo Montalban) and the TV series The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius.

As a compositor and technical director for the Canadian company MrX, Inc., Strobl worked on the films Shoot 'Em Up (starring Stephen McHattie), Closing the Ring (starring Christopher Plummer), and Resident Evil: Extinction. Since joining Digital Domain in February 2007, Strobl has been a compositor on such films as Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (featuring Lee Arenberg), The Golden Compass, and Speed Racer (featuring music by Michael Giacchino).

Having completed his work on Star Trek, Strobl is now working on Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, which was also written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman. He has also been assigned work on the sequel to the cult 1982 Disney film TRON.
