A force field box was a small, intensely strong container designed to hold highly volatile substances for short periods of time.

In 2269, Montgomery Scott transported a piece of antimatter from the body of the cosmic cloud into a force field box in order to release it into the USS Enterprise's antimatter engine and recharge it. (TAS: "One of Our Planets Is Missing")
