Force globe

A force globe was an energy barrier produced by Kukulkan's starship that could immobilize an enemy ship. It was flexible to allow the ship to struggle without being damaged.

The USS Enterprise was caught in a force globe but managed to escape when Spock discovered that it was only flexible in one direction per unit of time. (TAS: "How Sharper Than a Serpent's Tooth")
