Forced plasma beam

A forced plasma beam is used by individual Borg drones to defend themselves or attack someone else.
The beam itself is similar to a Ferengi hand phaser. The plasma beam is traceble to its origin with a tricorder. Two hundred seventy-four Starfleet personnel on the Ohniaka III Research Station were killed by a forced plasma beam in 2369. (TNG: "Descent")
