Fusion reactants are part of a star's core.
In 2371, Jadzia Dax and Deral discovered the fusion reactants of the Trialan sun were out of balance. This imbalance was the cause of the planet Meridian's dimensional shift, as the imbalance built up on a quantum level and caused a cascade reaction. (DS9: "Meridian")
