"It's been a long time since I've had gagh. I look forward to it. Very fresh." - Picard (TNG: "Unification I")

Gagh is a Klingon delicacy consisting of unprocessed serpent worms. Although most Klingons prefer it live, it can be served stewed as well. Many Humans tend to find it unappetizing, though both William Riker and Jean-Luc Picard claimed to have developed a taste for it, and Julian Bashir occasionally enjoyed it. Allegedly, the actual taste of gagh is revolting and it is eaten solely for the unique sensation of the gagh spasming in one's mouth and stomach in their death throes. (TNG: "A Matter Of Honor"; DS9: "Melora")

In 2373, Neelix served gagh aboard the USS Voyager for his special Klingon Breakfast Buffet. However, none of the crew seemed very enthusiastic about it. (VOY: "Fair Trade")

In 2375, a shipment of gagh ordered by Jadzia Dax arrived on Deep Space 9. She ordered it for the celebration of General Martok's birthday, but Ezri Dax wanted to have it thrown out into space because the memories of eating gagh made her sick. (DS9: "Prodigal Daughter")

There are at least 51 different types of gagh, each with its distinct taste and texture, including:

  • Bithool gagh, which has feet
  • Filden gagh, which squirms
  • Meshta gagh, which jumps
  • Torgud gagh, which wiggles
  • Wistan gagh, which is packed in targ blood
