In an unknown, alternate future timeframe, Lieutenant Gaines was the tactical officer aboard the refit USS Enterprise-D, serving under Admiral William T. Riker. Gaines was on duty when the Enterprise defeated two Klingon Negh'Var warship attack cruisers which had attacked the USS Pasteur. (TNG: "All Good Things...")

Gaines was played by Tim Kelleher.
