Gaullism

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

Gaullism was a nationalist political philosophy and movement in France. It was named for a famous general, Charles de Gaulle. The main doctrinal component of Gaullism was a desire for France's independence from foreign power, but there were also social and economic components in some forms of the philosophy.

In 2024, Europe was in a state of political turmoil. In France, the Gaullists had failed to deal with widespread student protests and were replaced by neo-Trotskyists, but they were unsuccessful as well. (DS9: "Past Tense, Part II")
