A habak on Dorvan V.
A habak on Dorvan V.

In Earth's American Indian culture, a habak was both a holy and sacred ceremonial chamber where rituals and ceremonies were held, as well as a place where one may attain spiritual enlightenment by means of a vision quest. To the American Indians, the Habak was the focal point of their lives, where strangers were not welcome. A habak also included several mansaras, who represented the spirits.

In 2370, Wesley Crusher was invited to visit a habak on Dorvan V, by Lakanta, to experience a vision quest. It was here that Wesley saw a vision of his father, who told Wesley not to follow him, and to pursue his own life. (TNG: "Journey's End")
