Ensign Harper was a Starfleet engineer who served under Lieutenant Commander Montgomery Scott aboard the USS Enterprise.
He was unfortunately killed in 2268 when he was ordered by Captain Kirk and Scotty to cut off the power supply of the insane M-5 computer. A power beam intensified, at M-5's command, and vaporized Harper. (TOS: "The Ultimate Computer")
