Herman F. Zimmerman (born 19 April 1935; age 74) is a longtime Star Trek production designer, who began work with the franchise with the premiere of Star Trek: The Next Generation in 1987. He went on to work on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and the four TNG movies. He and Rick Sternbach designed Deep Space 9.
Zimmerman was nominated for four Emmy Awards for his work on DS9. His first nomination, for the pilot episode, "Emissary", was shared with art director Randy McIlvain and set decorator Mickey S. Michaels. His next three nominations – for "Trials and Tribble-ations", "Far Beyond the Stars" and "Prodigal Daughter" – were shared with McIlvain and set decorator Laura Richarz.
