Homer was a Greek author writing in the 8th century BC.
In 2368 Berlinghoff Rasmussen mentioned Homer to Geordi La Forge as a historical figure who was blind. (TNG: "A Matter of Time")
Homer is best known for his Odyssey and Iliad, epic poems which feature characters such as Odysseus and Achilles.
