Hyperdrive

Hyperdrive is an alternative term for warp drive used by some Starfleet crews in the 2250s. (TOS: "The Cage")

This alternative nomenclature was never fully explained, so it's possible that the term has a different connotation than the standard warp drives seen elsewhere in Star Trek. The term was later used in Star Wars.
