A 20,000-year-old icon painting.

Icon paintings are a form of Bajoran representational art dating back nearly 20,000 years traditionally created by those of the Ih'valla D'jarra. An icon painting of B'hala which was stolen by the Cardassians during the Occupation was returned to Bajor in 2373. The painting had a parchment base and was extremely detailed despite its relatively small size. (DS9: "Accession", "Rapture")

Kira Meru, Kira Nerys's mother, was an icon painter. (DS9: "Second Skin")
