An insect is a type of lifeform. They have an exoskeleton, a body separated into three sections, and six legs. The study of insects is called entomology.

In the image of Rom as he is about to chew on the Ferengi beetle, you can see that the producers used a giant water bug for the beetle. Also known as "toe-biters" in the US, these large predatory insects are sold and eaten in Thailand.
