The Irish language (Gaeilge) was the Celtic Human language originating in the Earth region of Ireland. Irish was one of three modern Gaelic languages, a subgroup of Celtic, including Scottish Gaelic and Manx.
Irish language signage was used in the holodeck village of Fair Haven. (VOY: "Fair Haven", "Spirit Folk").

- Fáilte: welcome, on sign outside pub

Céad mile failte (pronounced "Chayd mil'fallcha") is an old Irish saying that means "a hundred thousand welcomes." Michael Sullivan, the local bartender in the Fair Haven holodeck program, greeted Captain Kathryn Janeway (known to him as Katie O'Clare) with it when she visited the Fair Haven pub after initiating an open door policy for the program. Irish was also used for the name of the Bringloidi, an Irish-like people encountered by the USS Enterprise-D. The name derived from the Irish brionglóidí, meaning dreams. (TNG: "Up The Long Ladder")
