James Joyce
From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference.
James Joyce was a Human novelist of Irish descent who lived during the 19th and 20th centuries. He is credited with being a founder of the Modernist movement and first large-scale use of "stream of consciousness" narrative.
Joyce's novel Ulysses is considered one of the great achievements of Human literature despite its massive size and complexity. The book was still being read more than 400 years after his death. (TNG: "Captain's Holiday")
- Joyce's literary creations have been noted by other Star Trek authors in comics and novels, the comic book story DC TOS volume 1: "Finnegan's Wake!" was named for a Joyce work, and the Pocket TNG novel "Dark Mirror" mentions his writing style.
