James Worthy (born 27 February 1961; age 48) played basketball at the University of North Carolina from 1979-82. He led the Tar Heels to the NCAA Championship in 1982, along with fellow teammate Michael Jordan. Selected first in the 1983 NBA Draft by the LA Lakers, he went on to win three championships with that team in 1984-85, 1986-87 and 1987-88. After retiring as a player in 1994, he was named one of the NBA's 50 Greatest Players in 1996, and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2003.

Standing at six feet, nine inches (206 cm) tall, Worthy played Koral in TNG: "Gambit, Part II", the tallest-ever Klingon seen onscreen. Worthy met Robert O'Reilly on a plane flight and it was O'Reilly who persuaded him to appear on The Next Generation. [1]
