Janitza Mountains

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

The Janitza Mountains are a mountain range on Bajor that, until the early 2370s, had only ever been surveyed from orbit.

In 2371, a science team, was sent up into the mountains for a six month agrobiology expedition. (DS9: "The House of Quark") Among the participants included Keiko O'Brien, a botanist, and Sebarr, a zoologist. (DS9: "Fascination")

About two months into the expedition, it was discovered that the terrain was rougher than we expected, and that the ecosystem was a lot more diverse than the orbital scans made it look. It was found that every valley has an entirely different ecosystem, requiring more time than initially conceived for the mission, up to three additional months. (DS9: "Fascination")
