Javier Maribona-Picard

From Memory Alpha, the free Star Trek reference

Javier Maribona-Picard was an ancestor of the Picard family, who lived during the 17th century.

Maribona-Picard was involved in the brutal, "savage" Pueblo Revolt in 1680 when Spanish forces took back a fort (located in what is now New Mexico) which had been taken by Native Americans a few years earlier. (TNG: "Journey's End")

[edit] Background

Since it is only mentioned that this ancestor was only a "soldier", the correlation between these events may only be an incidental fact used as a plot device.

Javier Maribona was the name of a friend of episode writer René Echevarria. Before writing the episode, he asked his friend's permission to use the name and add the Picard to it.
