(written from a Production point of view)
Jeffrey D. Deacon (16 February 1949 – 29 March 2009; age 60) worked as a television camera assistant, stand-in, actor and photo double. He served between 1987 and 1990 on Star Trek: The Next Generation as Patrick Stewart's stand-in and photo double as well as a regular background actor, portraying a command division crewman. Deacon appeared in several episodes of the first, second and third seasons of TNG and like several other background people who worked on this episodic television program he received no on-screen credit for his appearances.
When he left the show to start his career as a camera assistant, Dennis Tracy took over as Stewart's stand-in. Deacon finished his career in the Camera Department as a camera assistant and worked on many different feature movies and episodic television shows. He then retired from the business raising his two daughters.
Deacon passed away on 29 March 2009 at the age of 60. [1] (Screen Actors Guild Magazine, Vol. 50, No.3, page 30)
