Joe Knowland (born 26 July 1930; age 79) is an American actor.

His first Hollywood role was as a guard in Escape from Alcatraz (1979), and he played several small roles before playing an antique store owner in Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).

He and his wife Dee co-chaired a board to finance the restoration of the Paramount Theatre of the Arts. He also served on the Oakland Chamber of Commerce and a few college boards. In addition, he is a former editor and publisher of the Oakland Tribune, and has since become a real estate agent.
