John Eaves (born 9 April 1962; age 47) was a production illustrator on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Enterprise. He also worked on the four Next Generation movies: Star Trek Generations, Star Trek: First Contact, Star Trek: Insurrection and Star Trek Nemesis and previously worked on Star Trek V: The Final Frontier. One of his first jobs was modifying the USS Excelsior model, turning it into the Enterprise-B for Star Trek Generations. John Eaves' designs include the USS Enterprise-E, several Son'a ships, the Breen warship, the Scimitar, and the Valdore-type Romulan warbird.

Much of his design work on Star Trek: Generations and Star Trek: First Contact was published in Star Trek: The Next Generation Sketchbook: The Movies, which he co-authored.

Later he worked regularly on Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Enterprise, designing starships, space stations and more.

"John Eaves' Sketchbook" is a special feature on the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine DVDs.

In addition to his work on Trek, Eaves was a model maker on films such as Innerspace (starring Robert Picardo), Alien³, Batman Returns, Strange Days, and, most recently, X-Men: The Last Stand (starring Patrick Stewart, Famke Janssen, and Kelsey Grammer). He was also storyboard artist on seaQuest DSV, a concept artist on films like Virtuosity, Sky High, The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (which featured Michael Dorn), and Evan Almighty, and an illustrator on Ghosts of Mars, The Majestic, and Flight of the Phoenix. His television credits as concept artist include the series Bones and Raines, the latter of which starred Linda Park.

Eaves' involvement in Star Trek continues in his role as a design consultant for Perpetual Entertainment in developing the upcoming online game Star Trek Online. [1] [2] He also recently worked on Star Trek The Exhibition, as well as the latest entry in the Star Trek film franchise, simply named Star Trek. [3]
