Kavarian tiger-bats are a variety of bat native to Kavaria.
When Jake Sisko did some research for a writing project of his, he was looking for information about the smell of the Kavarian tiger-bat, but he wasn't successful and only found pictures of the lifeform in the database.
Neither Kasidy Yates nor Benjamin Sisko had been to Kavaria and so couldn't describe the smell of the animal. (DS9: "For the Cause")
