Kay E. Kuter (25 April 1925 – 12 November 2003; age 78) played the role of the Cytherian in the Star Trek: The Next Generation episode "The Nth Degree". Later, he appeared in the Star Trek: Deep Space Nine episode "The Storyteller" as the Sirah.
He began his acting career in the mid-1950s with a number of small television and film roles, many uncredited. In 1964, he got a regular recurring role as "Newt Kiley" on Petticoat Junction and Green Acres until 1970.
He has appeared in a number of films including The Last Starfighter (1984, with Marc Alaimo, Barbara Bosson, Geoffrey Blake, Norman Snow, Dan Mason, and Wil Wheaton), Gross Anatomy (1989), The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea (2000), and his final appearance Forbidden Warrior (2004).
He also appeared with other Star Trek alumni in Frasier (1996, with Kelsey Grammer) and The Pretender (1999, with Jessica Gaona, Amy Wheaton, Ryan Bollman and games performer James McDonnell).
Kuter died of pulmonary complications at Providence St. Joseph Hospital in Burbank, California.
