Kelis' homeworld is a Class L planet located in the Delta Quadrant. It is home to an unnamed pre-warp civilization composed of a species recognized as Kelis' species.
Kelis' homeworld appeared to be an atypical example of a Class L planet. Though most such planets are often barely habitable, Kelis' homeworld appeared to be, at least for a part, lush and near Earth standard. This may however have been an illusion, since little of the planet's surface was seen, it may very well be that most of the planet was far less hospitable. Though little was seen of the planet's surface at least certain parts of the planet contained a great quantity of quite rocky forested hillside and valley landscapes.
The planet was capable of producing rain and at times even quite strong downpours and storms that contained thunder and lightning. Kelis stated that wars would only be fought if the local warlords or autarchs were ensured of good weather. This might mean that poor weather and atmospheric disturbances were frequent on the planet.
The planet also contained several landmasses and oceans or seas. One of these seas was called the Eastern Sea.
The planet is surrounded or borders an area of space that is affected by spatial eddies strong enough to affect the systems of a small ship like the Delta Flyer. These disturbances are capable of causing affected ships to lose power. These eddies might also affect larger ships like the USS Voyager since Commander Tuvok expressed concern that they might also fall victim to the eddies that had caused the disappearance of the Delta Flyer.
Kelis's homeword is rich in certain natural resources, like dilithium. The planet boasts large deposits of the mineral that outcrop to the surface. Kelis's species refer to the mineral as Winter's tears. The presence of the mineral was what had brought the Delta Flyer in close proximity of the planet. The planet also contains at least some deposits of copper, gold and tin. (VOY: "Muse")
